Undergraduate Surgery Quiz 2016
The
Department of General Surgery, Father Muller Medical College, conducted
“Undergraduate Surgery Quiz 2016†for undergraduate students on
05.11.2016. Students from five Medical Colleges in and around Mangalore,
consisting of 17 teams, participated in the quiz.
The
event was half a day program and began with inaugural function with lighting
the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais. The function was presided over
by Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI. Welcome address was given
by Dr Erel A.I. Diaz. Dr Jayaprakash Alva, Dean, FMMC spoke on the importance of quizzing. Presidential
address was delivered by the Director. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Reshmina
D’Souza.
The
quiz consisted of a preliminary selection round followed by a final quiz of 5
rounds with the top 5 teams. The final quiz consisted of five rounds which
included identify the surgical condition, buzzer round on pioneers of surgery,
buzzer round on spot the odd man out, surgical aphorisms – Pictionary round and
rapid fire round. The quiz master was Dr Manohar Martis assisted by Dr
Reshmina D’Souza.
The
first prize was won by Ms. Sahana K. and Ms. Sanjana Rai, Kasturba Medical
College, Mangalore. The Second prize won by Ms. Pranjali Rai and Ms.
Malvika, Srinivasa Institute of Medical Sciences. Third prize won by Ms.
Dipthi B.C. and Ms. Dhanya Nayak, A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences.
“Sharp Scalpels†the best group name prize won by Ms. Ishwarya and Ms. Kalyani
from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.
Prizes
were distributed by Dr Leo Francis Tauro, HOD, Department of General
Surgery. Overall the programme was a grand success and well appreciated
by the participants.
