CME - DIALYSIS DEMYSTIFIED

The CME - Dialysis Demystified - 2017 was organized by Department of Nephrology on the 9th of April in the Conference Hall of Father Muller Medical College Hospital. The Theme of the conference was Dialysis Demystified.

 

 

The conference was inaugurated by Rev. Fr Richard Coelho, Director In-charge, Father Muller Charitable Institutions.  Rev. Fr  Rudolf D’Sa, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College; Dr Jayaprakash Alva, Dean of Father Muller Medical College; Sr Janet D’Souza, Chief Nursing Officer; Dr Manjunath J and Dr Amith D’souza, Department of Nephrology were present. Dr Amith welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr Richard Coelho, in his presidential address, congratulated the department of Nephrology for taking the initiative of training the nurses and technicians of dialysis units and thereby contributing to the quality of care delivered to the people suffering from renal diseases. Dr Manjuanth J. delivered the vote of thanks.  The inaugural programme ended with the Institutional anthem.

 

 

The scientific sessions started at 9.30 am. The topics of the conference included back to basics: Principles of dialysis by Dr Amith D’souza Consultant Nephrologist, FMMCH; Dealing with Ups and downs handling blood pressure variations during dialysis by Dr Mayoor Prabhu, Kasturba Medical College; More or less or just enough? Hemodialysis adequacy by Dr Ashok Bhat; Water treatment: what a technician must know by Dr Janardhan Kamath, Consultant Nephrologist, K S Hegde Medical Academy; Patient’s lifeline care of A.V. Fistula by Dr Santhosh Pai, Consultant Nephrologist, Yenepoya Medical College; Bugs everywhere - infection control practices in hemodialysis unit by Dr Pradeep K.J, Consultant Nephrologist, Indiana Hospital; Dialysis in children by Dr Manjunath J. FMMCH; Plasmapharesis what a technician must know by Dr Pradeep Shenoy, Consultant Nephrologist, K S Hegde Medical Academy.

 

 

The conference came to an end at 5.00 pm. A total of 106 delegates working in the dialysis units of various hospitals in Mangalore, attended the conference.
