Report On Scintilla 2017 – Intercollegiate Quiz In Biochemistry For Medical Undergraduates

Department of Biochemistry, Father Muller Medical College organized a regional  quiz competition “Scintilla 2017” , for I MBBS students . 

“Scintilla ”  is being organized since 2013, and it is for the fifth  consecutive year that this event with an objective of recognizing the best talents in medical biochemistry, is conducted.

The quiz was inaugurated with a lighting the lamp by HODs and senior faculty of seven medical colleges of  this region. Dr. Avinash S.S welcomed the gathering.

Dr. Shivashankara A.R. and Dr. Shailaja Katti, faculty of Biochemistry, Father Muller Medical College were the quiz masters. There were 6 rounds in the competition namely, visuals, sequencing, buzzer round, answer with hints, case reports and rapid fire. The seven teams participated in the competition with zeal, enthusiasm and true spirit of competition.  Teams  from KMC Manipal, KMC Mangalore, AJ institute of Medical sciences, KVG Medical College Sullia, Yenepoya Medical College, KS Hegde Medical Academy and Father Muller Medical College participated , and their performance was cheered by the audience.

Finally, KMC Mangalore team bagged the championship, followed by KS Hegde Medical Academy  second place and  AJ Institute of Medical Sciences in third place.

In the valedictory programme, Rev.Fr. Rudolph Ravi D’Sa , Administrator of FMMC, appreciated the successful organization of quiz for the fifth consecutive year, and the team work under  the dynamic leadership of Dr.Malathi, Professor and Head of Biochemistry.  Prizes and certificates were distributed by Rev.Fr., Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Dr.Padmaja  Udaykumar (Vice Dean) and Dr.Malathi.

Dr. Arun Kumar K proposed vote of thanks. Dr.Maitreyee DS  and Dr.Ramlingareddy, Assistant professors  of Biochemistry, anchored the programme.  Ms. Claudia, lecturer, Mr. Honnamurthy, Mrs. Flossy, Mr.Joy, and the MSc MLT students worked hard for the successful conduction.

Organization of the   programme was appreciated by the Biochemistry faculty from various medical colleges and the student –participants.
