Father Muller College and School of Nursing Jubilee Celebrations

Father Muller School and College of Nursing celebrated triple jubilee of GNM program - 60 years(Diamond), B.Sc and P.B.B.Sc Nursing program - 30 years(Pearl) and M.Sc Nursing program - 25 years (Silver) and the Inauguration of National Conference on Critical Care Nursing organized by the Alumni Association of Father Muller College of Nursing on 19th January 2018 at Father Muller Convention Center.

The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Mass in St Joseph Chapel. Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese was the main celebrant for the Eucharistic celebration.

The formal celebrations commenced with the procession of guests, alumni, faculty and VIPs led by Band of Father Muller College of Nursing. Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese & President of FMCI, Chief Guest Dr Ani Grace Kalaimathi, Registrar, Tamilnadu Nurses & Midwives Council, Guest of Honour Rev. Sr Edmund D’Souza, Former Principal, Father Muller School of Nursing, Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, FMCI, Rev. Sr Jacintha D Souza, Principal, Father Muller College of Nursing, Mrs Jasmine Sarita Vas, Principal, Father Muller School of Nursing, Ms Darryl Aranha, President, Alumni Association  were the dignitaries on the dais. The Director FMCI welcomed the gathering.

 Principal of College of Nursing introduced the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering the Chief Guest said “Nurses need to be empowered, and influence people like Florence nightingale and reach towards greater success. Nurses need to wake up and say “we are the knowledgeable angels in giving holistic care to the patients”.  Knowledge is the power; we need to update our knowledge by continuing education, getting trained through bridge courses, need to know the technological advancement, online CNE modules.  Nurses can run their own nurse led clinics at community level and can be Nurse Entrepreneurs, Nurse Consultants and the Nurse Practitioners”.

The jubilee souvenir was released by Dr Ani Grace the Chief Guest along with the other dignitaries.

Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza Bishop of Mangalore Diocese & President of FMCI, felicitated & honored the former and present Directors, Assistant Directors, Administrators, Assistant Administrators, Chaplains, former and present Principals of School & College of Nursing and nursing staff who served this institution for more than 15 years and still on service.

Mrs Merlyn Tauro the first batch student of M.Sc Nursing presently working as Senior International Accreditation Specialist at Ministry of Public Health, Qatar shared her experience and cherished the memories of being in Father Muller Institution and was honored by the Bishop.  

 Rev. Sr Edmund DSouza, Former Principal, Father Muller School of Nursing, expressed her happiness to be a part of the celebration where she studied and served for 41 years in various capacities. She expressed her joy that her Alma Mater has reached the state of maturity and has contributed remarkably to the society, to the nation and to the world by forming good, trustworthy professionals.

In the presidential address His Lordship Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza Bishop of Mangalore, congratulated all the nurses and he said that nurses who are trained in Father Muller Institutions are wanted all over the world because of the standard of education and the values they receive and the way they care for patients.

Mrs Jasmine Sarita Vas, Principal, Father Muller School of Nursing proposed the vote of thanks, After the institutional anthem cultural program was presented by students of School and College of Nursing and College Anthem was sung by 60 alumni of the institutions.
