Father Muller Charitable Institutions celebrate Independence Day
Father Muller
Charitable Institutions celebrated the feast of Assumption of Mother Mary and
72nd Independence Day of India on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.
The celebration commenced
with the Solemn High Mass at 8 a. m at St Joseph Chapel. Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of
Father Muller Charitable Institutions officiated the Eucharistic celebration
and preached a meaningful homily stating that we need to raise our hearts and
minds to see our destiny, that is heaven. ‘Hope’ is the password to enter
heavenly glory. The feast of Assumption gives us hope to reach our destiny. In
other words, the feast gives both dignity and destiny to our human body.
Rev. Fr Ajith B.
Menezes, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College, Rev. Fr Felix Monteiro,
Chaplain were the co-celebrants.
After the Mass, the
Flag hoisting ceremony was held in the Campus.
The programme began by
invoking the Almighty in the form of a prayer song.
Ms Claudia Jonny,
Lecturer, Department of Biochemistry extended a warm welcome to the gathering.
The chief guest of the
day, Dr Leo Francis Tauro, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery,
unfurled the tricolor and delivered the Independence Day message. In his
message, he recalled the selfless sacrifice of freedom fighters and also
appreciated and saluted the contribution of Indian Air Force towards the
country. He further asked the gathering to pledge to strive towards unity in
the nation.
A series of patriotic
songs were sung by the students of various units of Father Muller Charitable
Institutions.
Rev. Fr Richard
Aloysius Coelho, Director of the Institutions, other Priests in the management,
Chaplains, Heads of various units of FMCI, staff and students participated
actively in the celebration.
Mrs Nathalia D'Cunha,
Assistant Lecturer, FMCON rendered the vote of thanks. Ms Josline Crasta
handled the proceedings.
