Father Muller Charitable Institutions bid Farewell to Bishop Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza
Father Muller Charitable Institutions gathered
together to celebrate the journey of His Lordship Rt Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’
Souza, Honorable Bishop of Mangalore and President of Father Muller Charitable
Institutions. A farewell reception was held in his honor on 21 August 2018 at
the Decennial Memorial Hall [Knowledge Centre].
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, popularly known
as ‘People’s Bishop’ has left behind a clear, dynamic, and long-lasting legacy
of 22 years by serving the Diocese of Mangalore as a Bishop and as a President
of Father Muller Charitable Institutions with great zeal and fervour. He was
one of the pioneers in establishing Father Muller Medical College and he has
been an excellent motivator in facilitating the Institution.
With the appointment of a new Bishop Rev. Msgr
Peter Paul Saldanha as the Bishop of Diocese of Mangalore who will be installed
on l5th September 2018, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Most Rev. Dr Aloysius
Paul D' Souza will be concluding next month and he will be relinquishing from
the said post thereafter.
The programme commenced by invoking the
blessings of the Almighty with a prayer song, led by the College of Nursing
students.
Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director,
Father Muller Charitable Institutions highlighted Bishop's journey at Father
Muller Charitable Institutions and extended a cordial welcome to the gathering.
At this juncture, he mentioned on how the Bishop with his indefatigable zeal
and enthusiasm was instrumental in shaping the destiny of the Institute which
was entrusted to his care for a period of 22 years, and also brought a
significant improvement in the lives of the people in the social, educational
and healthcare fields.
Dr Aloysius Sequeira, Dean of NITK and
Faculty development and Governing board member of Father Muller
Charitable Institutions put a spotlight on the journey of His Lordship Bishop
Aloysius D’ Souza from 1996- 2018 at
FMCI through a citation.
Later, His lordship Bishop Aloysius Paul D’
Souza was accorded a felicitation by the dignitaries present on the occasion.
On this occasion, Vicar General Monsignor
Denis Prabhu was also felicitated.
Rev.Fr Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, presented a
floral bouquet to Bishop-elect Rev. Msgr Peter Paul Saldanha on the occasion of
being newly appointed as President of Father Muller Charitable Institutions.
Bishop Aloysius D’ Souza shared his thoughts
and memories on this occasion. He appreciated the Love and gratitude expressed
by the Institution towards him. He further expressed his deep gratitude towards
all those serving in the Institute in various capacities and who have been
responsible for building up the Institute to this present stature. He also said
that we have a mission ‘To heal and Comfort’, and this mission has been
realized and accomplished. This mission needs to be carried forward with much
more love, zeal and dedication.
Rev.Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Administrator,
Father Muller Medical College Hospital, rendered the vote of thanks.
Dr Nicole Pereira, Assistant Professor,
Department of Pharmacology, FMMC handled the proceedings.
With the Institutional Anthem, the programme
came to end.
