The 5th edition of Muller Model United Nations inaugurated at Father Muller Medical College
The
opening ceremony of the 5th edition of Muller Model United Nations was held on
31 August 2018, in the Decennial Memorial Hall, Knowledge Centre. MUN gives students,
the opportunity to learn, about the pressing matters that haunt our world
today. It puts into perspective, how much we have, when compared to those who
survive on barely anything.
Rev.Fr
Ajit B. Menezes, Administrator of Father Muller Medical College, presided over
the programme. At this outset, he congratulated the student committee, for
organizing the Muller Model United Nations. MMUN is a unique feature of the
Mullerian Family. The spotlight news of the violation of human rights, which we
read in newspapers, will be discussed on this platform. Cases of human
trafficking are highly alarming. As future doctors, the need for addressing
such issues is exceedingly important. Further, he ended his keynote by saying
‘We are bestowed with wisdom. We need to utilize this astuteness, at the right
moment, for the right activity and on the right occasion'.
Chairperson,
Tanya Mohan Raj said Muller Model United Nations is a platform where social
issues are brought to the knowledge of the students and discussed. These
sessions will also help the students in building up oratory as well as public
speaking skills.
Of
the two-day programme, day1 will highlight violations in the Gaza strip and
day2 will include discussion on the status of workers and evaluation of the
existing labour rights. These discussions will enable the delegates to research
on the topic and to form an opinion that is based on the country provided. It
is how they can convince the committee that what their country thinks is right,
is indeed true.
