Date :Nov 15, 2018

The Department of Paediatrics of Father Muller Medical College and Department of Child Health Nursing of Father Muller College of Nursing organised Children's day celebration on 14 November 2018, at the Hospital Conference Hall.

Themed on, ‘Circus Magic’, various activities were conducted as a part of the Children’s Day celebration.

The programme began with an invocation in the form of an audio-visual song.

Dr Parveen welcomed the gathering.

Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director, FMCI addressed the gathering. He said, “Nehru was very fond of children and was often referred to as Chacha Nehru. He advocated children to have a fulfilled childhood. Children’s Day commemorates the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru. The abundance of goodness embedded in our children and their gentleness is an inspiration to all of us. The bonding that subsists between a child and a mother is unexplainable! But sometimes due to poverty and other circumstances, children confront various torments throughout their life.”

Addressing the children admitted at the hospital, Fr Richard Coelho spoke words of assurance and healing that soothed and comforted every ailing soul.

“The children's day programme is organised to recognize and uphold the value and dignity of our children. Nowadays, a lot of atrocities take place on children, and we elders, as guiding forces need to strive to provide a safe and healthy environment to our children,” he added.

Later, students of GNM nursing presented a dance performance and entertained the audience.

Drawing competition was conducted for the Paediatric patients of K ward. Fancy dress competition was held for the employees’ children and prizes were distributed to the winners of both the competitions, followed by distribution of sweets to all children. There were a total of 40 children who actively participated in all the events, games and entertainment and made the day a memorable one.

Dr Pavan Hegde, HOD, Paediatric Department, Sr Janet D’Souza, Chief Nursing Officer, nursing staff and children admitted at the hospital were present on the occasion.
