Date :Jan 14, 2019

Ignite 2K19 Burst into Flame, Annual Athletic Meet of Father Muller School and College of Nursing was held on 12 January 2019 at Father Muller Stadium.

Ms Venizeia Annie Carlo, National sub-junior power lifter was the chief guest and inaugurated the athletic meet open by hoisting the flag and releasing the balloons. In her speech, she applauded the initiative taken by the department in organising the event which particularly reminds the students that college life isn’t just about academics, but something way beyond. "Sport is a part of your college life. Your venture into sports should not stop when you leave college. When today’s youth seem to be engrossed in social media, we need to strike a balance between academic life and social life”, she said.

“You should feel the fresh air as you kick a football and savour the saltiness of your sweat as you make the three-pointer shot in basketball. Look for opportunities and learn something new. Along with your academics give importance to extracurricular activities. Study with an open mind, work with a productive mindset and get into sports to release those toxins and enjoy life”, she added.

Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director FMCI, presided over the programme and said, “Playing sports is a great way to relieve stress induced by various factors like education, mobiles etc. It helps one to gain a sound mind and a healthy body. Today's generation involves themselves more in indoor activities. Young students need to exercise, remain healthy and have a stress free life.”  He stressed the need of having healthy competition in all spheres of life." Real sportsmanship involves in playing a game fairly and accepting everything that befalls on the line", he said.
