AWARD OF BEST CELEBRATION OF WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK (1st to 7th August, 2016)

The World Breast Feeding week programme was organized by the OBG Nursing Department of College of Nursing along with Medical College Hospital. The inauguration of the theme “breast feeding a key to sustainable development” was held at the Hospital Conference Hall of Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru on 1st August 2016 at 10 am. Rev Fr Ajith Menezes, Assistant Administrator of the Hospital was the chief guest and Dr Naveen Chandra, Taluk Health Officer; Mangaluru was the guest of honor. The theme ‘Breast feeding: a key to sustainable development’ was unfolded by Dr Naveen Chandra and he enlightened the audience on the importance of breast feeding and focused on the activities of the government in promoting mother and child health.

A week programme bagged with multiple activities such as health awareness and   role play in the rural and urban community, Out Patient Department of the hospital, Jeppu Primary Health Center and maternity wards. A video on ‘Amritha Bindhu’ was played periodically at the OBG Outpatient Department and in the maternity wards. A quiz competition was also conducted for the postnatal mothers and winners were awarded. The participation of the students was encouraged through the Poster competition. The Best Poster was awarded. 

A report of the Breast feeding Week was sent to the BPNI (Breast feeding Promotion Network of India). Thereafter a Certificate of Achievement as the “Best Celebration” is presented to the OBG Nursing Department of Father Muller College of Nursing.
