Father Muller Medical College Hospital Laboratory TRAINING ON “ISO 15189:2012â€
A four days training on
“ISO 15189:2012†was conducted in our institution from 1st to 4th
March 2017.
The programme was
organized jointly by our laboratory and Medical Education and Learning Point,
New Delhi. There were total 48
registered delegates from our institution as well other institutions.
Inauguration of the
programme was on 1st March 2017 at 9 AM. Rev.Fr Richard Coelho, Administrator
of Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Rev. Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa,
Administrator of Father Muller Medical College, Dr Neeraj Jain and Dr Rohini
Kalhan were the dignitaries on the dais. Dr Umashankar T., Lab Director
welcomed the gathering. Dr Neeraj Jain, Course Director gave the introduction
to the training programme. Rev. Fr Richard
Coelho was the presiding officer for the inaugural. Dr Shivashankara A.R.,
Quality Manager of the Laboratory, proposed vote of thanks. Master of ceremony
for the inaugural was Dr Maitreyee DS, Department of Biochemistry.
Resource persons for this
4 days training were Dr Neeraj Jain and Dr Rohini Kalhan., who are assessors of
NABL, and leading practitioners of lab medicine. The programme was co-ordinated by Mr Anil
Saini from Medical Education and Learning point.
During the 4 days training
programme, the participants learnt all clauses of ISO 15189:2012, the
international standard for medical testing laboratories. This training is
mandatory for internal auditors and quality managers of labs. This standard
explains the requirements for quality and competence in medical testing
laboratories.
The participants were
given many exercises, trained on how to conduct internal audit and how to write
quality manual and standard operating procedures. On the last day, there was
practical training on quality management system in Father Muller Medical
College Hospital Laboratory.
Participants included
faculty and students of MD and MSc MLT Courses from Biochemistry, Pathology and
Microbiology.
