Date :Sep 24, 2024

Blood donation is a crucial humanitarian act, as one unit of blood can save three to four lives. The World Red Cross Society, an organization dedicated to this cause, observes World Red Cross Day annually on May 8th. This year's celebration took place at St. Joseph Prashanth Nivas, Jeppu, marking a significant occasion to honor and reflect on the organization's mission.

The emcee for the event was Tejas from the MBBS 2021 batch, who also serves as the Joint Secretary of the Youth Red Cross Unit (YRCU). Proceedings commenced with a prayer song performed by a choir comprising Ashlin, Joanna Paul, Satvika, Khyathi, and Hanna, invoking blessings for the event.

Following the invocation, Dr. Kirana Pailoor, Professor and Head of the Department of IHBT and Convenor of the Youth Red Cross, delivered the welcome address. Subsequently, Ashlyn and her team presented a song, followed by a dance performance led by Sneha and her team.

The program continued with a skit performed by Anvith and his team, providing entertainment for the elderly residents of the home. Dr. Nishanth Krishna, a faculty member of the YRCU, then delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and organizers.

The event also featured the ceremonial handing over of a sponsorship amount for fruits by Dr. Kirana Pailoor, Dr. Palavi, Dr. Nishanth, and YRCU members Surya (MBBS 2021 batch), Tejas (MBBS 2021 batch), Joanna John (MBBS 2022 batch), and Blessin (MBBS 2022 batch).

The sister of the old age home expressed her gratitude to the performers and organizers through a heartfelt speech. The event concluded with a group photograph of all performers, organizers, elderly residents and YRCU members.
