REPORT OF PRERANA '16

The Student Association of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College organized PRERANA '16, an Intercollegiate Cultural & Literary competition for the Pre-University students of DK and Udupi districts, for the 8th consecutive year, on 6th Aug 2016.

The events held were Extempore (English & Kannada), Watercolouring and Quiz. 70 students from 17 pre-university colleges took part in the various events held.

The inauguration of the event was at 9.30 am. Rev. Fr. Robert D'Souza, Principal, Lourdes Central School, Bejai, Mangalore was the Chief Guest. The inaugural function was presided over by Rev. Fr. Sylvester Vincent Lobo, Asst. Administrator, FMHMC&H. Mr. Vinod, President, Students' Association, FMHMC, welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Dr E S J Prabhukiran, Vice Principal, FMHMC, in his message, gave an awareness regarding Homoeopathy and emphasized the importance of conducting the event. Ms. Akhila Baburaj, General Secretary, Students' Association, FMHMC, delivered the vote of thanks. The convener of Prerana '16 was Dr Vivek Sakthidharan.

Following the inaugural function, the events started in the auditorium, with English extempore. The judges of the event were Dr Blany Lobo, Asso. Prof, FMHMC and Mr Issac Sikha, a well-known counsellor at Mangalore. 12 colleges participated in this event and the 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes were bagged by St. Aloysius PUC, Lourdes PUC and St. Agnes PUC respectively

The next event was Kannada extempore, for which, the judges were Dr Sudhamathi, HOD, SPM Dept, FMHMC and Dr Muralee Mohan, Professor, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, A.B.Shetty Dental College, Deralakatte. 12 colleges participated in this event and the 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes were bagged by Expert PUC, St. Agnes PUC & Shri Rama PUC respectively.

During the same time, in FMT Lab, watercolouring competition was conducted, in which there were 12 participants. The judgement was done by Mr. Lal Mohan, art teacher, Presidency school, Neermanga and Mr Prakash, artist, FMCI. The prizes were bagged by Vivekananda PUC, St. Agnes PUC and Expert PUC.

In the morning session, Quiz prelims were conducted in Lecture Hall I, by Dr Rajachandra, in which there were participants from 17 colleges. 5 colleges were selected for the final round, which was conducted in the afternoon, by Dr Revan. The winners were Lourdes PUC, Sharada PUC and Expert PUC.

The celebration was concluded with prize distribution for the winners by Rev. Fr. Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Administrator, FMHMC&H and Dr Shivaprasad K, Principal, FMHMC. The overall championship trophy was bagged by Expert PUC, Valachil. The first and second runnersup were Lourdes PUC and St. Agnes PUC respectively.

Participation certificated were distributed to all the participants and the winners were given mementos, certificates and cash prizes.
