Overview

Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College was established in the year 1985. The college began with few numbers of students and there were no individual departments. Dr. Gayathri Ramani one of the reputed obstetricians used to lecture students at Father Muller Hospital Kankanday. The department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology was later established in the year 1987. From 1987 till 2006 the college was functioning at Kankanady Hospital. Later our Director Fev Fr. Perter Noronha and Asst. Administrator Rev Fr. Patrick Rodrigus (1987) had a Dream and Vision to have a separate campus for the Homoeopathy Medical College and Hospital at Deralakatte. The Dream came into reality in 2006 and the full fledged Homoeopathic Medical College was shifted from Kankanday to Deralakatte in November 2006 with good Infrastructure facilities.

The Department is well equipped with a Museum, Departmental Library, H.O.D’s room, and a Staff room.

Education

The department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology has - Undergraduate course. The Undergraduate teaching program in Obstetrics & Gynaecology is conducted for II & III BHMS students.

Teaching program consists of

  • Theory classes
  • Bed side clinics - Students will take the cases and present in Maternity ward.
  • Case discussions - Discussion about the diagnosis, investigations, general management, remedial management and the prognosis of the case will be discussed.
  • Demonstrations -/ Seminars done with the help of dummy and pelvis II & III BHMS Students will have postings in the Maternity ward for clinics. Theory teaching done using
  • Power point presentation; Videos; Demonstrations with specimens.
  • Normal Labour & abnormal labour demonstration through dummy & pelvis.
