USG – A diagnostic aid in pure neuritic leprosy
The department of Dermatology
conducted Guest Lectures at Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore on 31st
January 2017 in the Knowledge Centre Hall.
This program was organized to commemorate Anti leprosy day.
The
programme started with inauguration. Dr Sukumar D, Prof & HOD welcomed the
gathering. Dr Ramakrishna Rao, District
Health and FW Officer, DK, Mangalore was the chief guest. Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI addressed
the gathering. Dr Jayaprakash Alva,
Dean, FMMC and the Guest speakers also graced the dais during the inaugural
function. Dr Ramesh Bhat M, Professor,
department of Dermatology was felicitated on being elected as IADVL President
for the year 2018. Inaugural function concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Michelle
Fernandes.
Prof. Dr Jerome Pinto, eminent
Dermatologist and a prolific orator of Mangalore, delivered a lecture on The Teacher in Leprosy. He shared
many anecdotal incidents of his experience with leprosy and the valuable
lessons this formidable disease has taught him.
It was followed by an enlightening session by Prof. Dr Nanda Kishore B.
who gave an insight into Ultrasonography as a diagnostic modality in pure
neuritic leprosy.
This Guest Lecture was
well attended by staff, post graduates of medical and nursing departments of Father
Muller Medical College Hospital as well as consultant Dermatologists and Post
graduates of various Medical Colleges in Mangalore.
