REPORT OF TRAUMA SIMULATION

Father Muller Simulation and Skill Centre organized a half day workshop on February 2nd 2018. The workshop was attended by 10 consultants. Dr Lulu Sherif, Academic In charge of the centre was the convener for the workshop.  The resource faculties for the workshop were:

DR RITHESH JOSEPH D’CUNHA, Consultant Anaesthesiologist and Administrative In charge, FMSSC

The aim of the workshop was to train the delegate how to approach a trauma patient based on ATLS guidelines and to demonstrate effective trauma management procedural & team dynamics skills.

The workshop included clinical skill stations demonstrating airway management, vascular access, long bone, pelvis & spine stabilization, needle decompression & ICD Insertion and FAST imaging. The delegates also participated in an immersive trauma simulation scenario with reflective debriefing aimed at emphasizing the best practice principles of trauma management as a competent member of a Trauma team. The modalities of simulation based training employed were Task Trainers & High Fidelity Human Patient Simulators.

The feedback received was very positive and the faculty and centre infrastructure was well appreciated by the delegates.
