Overview
FMMCHL is a NABL accredited laboratory catering to the needs of in house as well as outside patients. It is the only lab in this region which is accredited for all the braches of medical lab (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology & Oncology, Histopathology & Cytology). FMMCHL got the accreditation for the first time in 2012, and continues to be accreditated till date. In the NABH assessment conducted in 2015, lab was considered as one of excellent departments in FMMCH.
Microbiology
The department of Microbiology carries out all routine tests, culture, and many special tests. The important diagnostic tests available in Microbiology central laboratory are
- Bacteriology –Aerobic Culture and Sensitivity, Automated Blood Culture (Bactec), Automated Bacterial Identification (Phoenix System) and Anaerobic culture.
- Mycobacteriology –CBNAAT(GeneXpert), Micro MGIT culture , Fluorescent Microscopy
- Immunology -ANA global, ANA profile , ANCA, APLA
- Virology –HIV, HAV, HBV, HCV, Dengue antibodies, Viral meningitis screening (HSV 1-2, CMV, VZV, EBV, Enterovirus, Adenovirus, HHV 6-7, Paraechovirus, Parvovirus-B19), HBV & HCV viral load
- Molecular technology -Conventional and real time PCR
- Serology -ELISA, Chemiluminescence, Immunochromatography, routine serology
- Mycology –Culture and microscopy
- Parasitology -Microscopy

Our Strength
FMMCHL has well qualified authorized signatories, technicians and other staff. The team comprising of lab director, quality manager, technical managers and deputy managers, monitors and maintains the quality of lab reports. FMMCHL has internal and external quality assurance programme in place . Staff are regularly trained and assessed to ensure competence.
