CANCER SCREENING WEEK – SCREENING FOR GYNECOLOGICAL CANCERS

The department of obstetrics and gynaecology is organising a Cancer Awareness week and a
health camp for Gynecological cancers.

Date: 6th February 2017 to
13th February 2017
Time 9.00 am-4.00pm
During this camp , screening tests for uterine
cancers and breast cancer will be offered at concessional rates with
examination and interpretation of reports. The tests offered include PAP smear
(testing for cervical cancer), Ultrasound Pelvis (for uterine cancer) and mammography for
breast cancer. Specialists in gynaecological cancers will be available for
consultation.
Early warning symptoms
of cancer that women can experience and should not ignore.:

Abnormal
vaginal bleeding (especially in women who've undergone menopause), painful
periods
•
Unexplained
weight loss
•
Constant
bladder pressure or increased urination
•
Loss
of appetite, while constantly feeling full/bloated stomach
•
Pelvic
or abdominal pain
•
Constant
fatigue
•
Vaginal
discharge
•
Hard
lump in the breast
