Report of Health Camp at Kripalaya Heatlth Center, Karikal

The health camp was organised by CASK (Catholic Association of South Kanara) along with the doctors of Father Muller Medical College Hospital at Kripalaya Health Centre, Karikal. It is in a remote rural area run by Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartolomea and Vincenza on 19.06.2016. It was only of two specialities namely Ophthalmic and paediatric Department. The team had gone on 18th evening and halted there inorder to start on time at 8.30am. The CASK members Cap.J.P.Menezes, Dr Derik Lobo, Mr Lawrence Pinto and Sr Aileen Mathias Chief Nursing Officer of FMMCH had gone on Sunday early morning. The Camp started on time at 8.30am with a short inauguration. Sr Stephany Coelho the Superior of the Convent welcomed the members, Dr Sr Maristella Saldanha and other dignitaries inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp. Sr Jayamary compired the programme.  The heavy rain was not a hindrance for the poor people of locality. Dr Vinay P.G, Dr Kiran were assisted by Ms Maria and Nishmitha the refractionists examined 173 patients for Ophthalmic Departme nt out of which 34 are identified for cataract surgery and spectacles are given for 80 patients. 83 Children were examined by Dr Vitus D'Silva and Dr Irshad Abdul Majeed of paediatric Department. Blood investigation also was done like blood grouping of 90 patients and Blood sugar for 40 patients. All the expenditure of the camp was looked after by the CASK. Sisters are grateful for the CASK for donating Rs 25000/ for the purified hot and cold water for the patients in the Health Centre. All the patients were examined till 2pm and returned after the delicious lunch at 3pm with much satisfaction. Sr Denny D'Souza and Sr Flossy Lobo were staff nurses to help them. The patients are called for the cataract surgery on 28th June. ​
