OVERVIEW

Medical Laboratory Technology is an Allied Health specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases through the use of clinical laboratory tests. Though the Medical Lab technologists spend less time with patients than doctors and nurses, they are just as dedicated to patient's health. As vital members of the health care team, medical laboratory professionals play a critical role in collecting the information needed to give the best care to an ill or injured patient. The fact is that the practice of modern medicine would be impossible without the tests performed in the laboratory

The program aims to provide efficient and balanced training in laboratory medicine. Students receive a stimulating, challenging and supportive academic experience alongside a fulfilling and enjoyable social life.

    The mission of the Medical laboratory Science program is to prepare professionals to demonstrate the highest quality of technical and clinical competence in serving their patients and the laboratory profession.

    Scientific:Work as laboratory technologist at hospitals, Pharmaceutical laboratories,Public Health laboratories, research & product development.

    Managerial:Supervisor in laboratory, as consultant to laboratory medicine industry, Quality assurance companies, sales & marketing

    Educational:As a tutor/lecturer in laboratory medicine graduate program.

FACILITIES

    The Institute is equipped with excellent state of the art facilities. The hospital has been accredited with National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare providers (NABH) with 1250 bedded capacity. It caters to the needs of society and provides Emergency and specialized services in all fields of medical sciences. Being in the health care service since 1880, Father Muller Medical College Hospital has a rich heritage which is seen in its vast experience in the field of medicine and gives it the reputation of an institute that combines a caring heart with highly professional skills. The National Accreditation Board for testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has accredited microbiology, biochemistry and pathology clinical laboratories of the hospital. It is the only medical institute in the city which has all the three laboratories accredited by NABL guaranteeing quality Services

    The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has accredited Father Muller Medical College with an 'A' grade, making it the first medical college under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, to be so accredited. Also the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees awarded at Fr Muller Medical College under RGUHS, Karnataka, is recognized and approved by MCI, New Delhi.

    Second Year: Ethics, Database Management, Research and Biostatics, Computer Application.

    POM. Sc MLT in clinical Biochemistry

    M. Sc MLT in Microbiology and Immunology

    M. Sc MLT in Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
