National Pharmacovigilance Week 2025 Concludes with Insightful Events and Activities

Department of Pharmacology and ADR monitoring centre, Father Muller Medical College organized a Painting/Sketching, Quiz, digital poster competitions and Proactive Pharmacovigilant Award as a part of National Pharmacovigilance Week 17^th – 23^rd September 2025. Dr Padmaja Udaykumar, Professor, Department of Pharmacology was the Organising Chairperson and Dr Chandralekha N, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, AMC coordinator was the Organizing secretary. We got an immense response from the students, doctors, nurses. The following are the prize winners.

Painting/Sketching competition

Topic: Brushstrokes of Safety: Art for ADR Reporting

Winners                                             

1^st prize – Blessy Olivia Balaraju (3^th year MBBS)

2^nd prize – Manisha S Nagekar (Staff nurse)

This competition was judged by Dr Deepthi Sridhar, Associate Professor, Dept of Pharmacology, Dr Vinitha Kunder Associate Professor, Dept of Pharmacology, Dr Pooja M, Assistant Professor Dept of Pharmacology.

Pharmacovigilance UG Quiz Competition

Topic:

·         Global Pharmacovigilance

·         Pharmacovigilance Program of India

·         All adverse drug reactions

1^st prize – S. Thejas (4^th year MBBS) and Pranav Avabhratha (4^th year MBBS)

Digital poster competition

Topic: Pharmacovigilance in the digital Era: Report ADRs Anytime, Anywhere

This competition was judged by Dr K Shreedhar Avabratha, Professor, Dept of Paediatrics, Dr Nishitha Shetty, Professor, Dept of Medical Oncology, Dr Scandashree K, Associate Professor, Dept of Pharmacology.   

Proactive Pharmacovigilant Award

Winners

1^st prize – Chandini V (Pharm D intern)

2^nd prize – Arfa Naaz (Pharm D intern)

Prize distribution for the same was held on 23.09.2025 at 2.30 p.m. at FMMC.

Dr Chandralekha N, Professor and HOD, AMC co-ordinator, department of Pharmacology welcomed the gathering. Dr Padmaja Udaykumar, Professor of Pharmacology department read out the names of the winners.

Rev. Dr Michael Santhumayor, Administrator, FMMC and Dr Antony Sylvan Dsouza, Dean FMMC, gave away the cash prizes and certificates to the winners. First-prize winners received cash prize of Rs 2,000 and second-prize winners received a cash prize of Rs 1,500. Proactive Pharmacovigilant Award winners received Rs 1000 each. Administrator congratulated the Department of Pharmacology and ADR monitoring centre for organizing these events, winners and participants for taking part in the events

Medical undergraduates, Pharm D interns, winners, participants & judges of the competitions and faculty of the department of pharmacology were present.

The audience were also sensitized about the importance of reporting ADRs. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Dr Chandralekha N.

E-certificates were sent to all the participants and judges.
