Father Muller Research Centre is a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions established on 3rd July 2006 by, Rev.Fr. Baptist Menezes, the Director FMCI under the chairmanship, Dr. B Sanjeev Rai, Dean, FMMC, and Prof. M N Madyastha, Former Chairperson, Dept of Bioscience, Mangalore University and Emeritus Fellow National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal as an Advisor.

The Father Muller Research center was established to inculcate and enhance research activities among the faculty and students of the constituent colleges of Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

The center is committed to research support by identifying the thrust areas of research, providing state-of-the-art research facilities, helping to formulate study designs, providing seed money for research, guidance in grant applications, encouragement, and support to develop drugs and devices. Moreover, to establish Intellectual property rights and patents.

The research center has started as part of the Hospital's central laboratory, later Shifted to the II floor of OPD Block as an independent Unit. Further, the administrative block shifted to the Indoor Stadium Complex and the Laboratories to the Ground floor of the Psychiatry Hospital.

Administrative bock blessed by his lordship Bishop Rt. Rev Peter Paul Saldana and Inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Zabidi A M Hussain, Vice-Chancellor, Perdana University, Malaysia, on 23rd February 2019.

The Laboratories were expanded and shifted to spacious premises in the "A' block of the Medical College by Rev Fr, Ajith Menezes, Administrator, Father Muller Medical College, and was Blessed and Inaugurated by Rev Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho on 1st January 2021. Today, FMRC has a research lab housed in a spacious and independent Unit catering to all staff and students of academic units of Father Muller Charitable Institutions and external research scholars.
