HOD Handing Over Ceremony
The Department of General Surgery,
Father Muller Medical College, Organised HOD handing over ceremony on
02.11.2020 from 3.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. in Hospital conference Hall. The
inaugural programme began with a prayer song by Dr Alphonsa Job and Dr Nayan
Pinto, postgraduate residents. The welcome address was delivered by Dr John
Martis, Professor and Unit Chief and introduction of the incoming HOD, Dr
Clement R. S. D'Souza, was done by Dr Rakesh Rai, Professor and Unit Chief. Dr
Erel Diaz, Professor & Unit Chief, offered a floral bouquet and welcomed
the incoming HOD. Dr Shubha Rao, Professor and Unit Chief, gave a brief report
of department activities conducted from 2016 to 2020 along with a nostalgic
Power Point presentation.
Dr Leo F. Tauro, Professor and
outgoing HOD, then escorted the new HOD to the dais and expressed his gratitude
to all the staff and postgraduates of the Department of General Surgery and
welcomed the incoming HOD and recalled that Dr Clement DSouza, is the first
alumnus of the institution to occupy the HOD post. Dr Clement DSouza, Professor and new Head of
the department congratulated Dr Leo Tauro on his successful completion of tenure
as HOD and commented on the newer heights the department of general surgery
reached under his leadership. He also stressed the importance of working as a
team and asked all the staff and postgraduates to lend their support for the
years to come.
The presence of Dr C K Ballal, Senior
neurosurgeon, Professor and teacher of both outgoing and incoming HOD's,
enhanced the charm of the ceremony.
The vote of thanks was given by Dr Prathvi
Shetty, Associate Professor, and this was followed by a group photo by the
entire general surgery department fraternity. Overall, the programme was unique
of its kind and appreciated by all.
