Counseling and Reassurance Camp – Sampanje
The
medical team of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Deralakatte,
Mangalore visited to Sampanje , Sullia Taluk, Kodugu District on 29/08/2018
with Dr Diana R, Dr Justina M Steefan, Dr Siddesha G, Dr Sriravali S, as a part
of camp organized by AYUSH Health Department of Karnataka, for counseling and reassurance to the people
affected by flood and landslide.
The
journey started at 9.00 am from kankanady and reached the relief camp at
Government High School, Sampanje at 11.30 am. Victims of the flood and
landslide were sheltered in relief camp who had lost family, house, properties,
etc. After having an interaction with them the team could find that they were
emotionally unstable, had low moods, feeling of loneliness, fear, low
confidence levels etc.
Dr
Diana R. gave a motivational talk to the survivors in their native language, Dr
Siddesha.G spoke in Kannada about how to rebuild their confidence and to move
on. The team interacted with the people and gave them counseling and
reassurance individually.
The
Students of naturopathy taught them a few relaxation techniques through YOGA. Post
lunch they visited ground zero, a place nearby Sampanje where there was
landslide. By evening the team visited another relief camp at Primary Health Center,
Sampanje. The team started at 4.30 pm and reached Mangalore at 7.30 pm.
