ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2024-2025

The department of Nursing Foundation department organized orientation program for the students of 67th batch of General Nursing and Midwifery from 27-08-2024 to 31-08-2024. A well-organized orientation programme was planned under the guidance of Prof. Pathima Violet Fernandes, HOD of Nursing Foundation department. A total of 53 Students actively participated in all the sessions. 1st day of orientation programme was started at 8.30 am with Prayer songs practice by Sr Lavita Dias, Assistant Lecturer Father Muller College of Nursing. Mrs Anitha Nancy Suvares (class coordinator) welcomed the students and faculty to the programme. Programme was conducted in Rajath bhavan, Father Muller College of nursing.

Day 1:  27-08-2024 Tuesday
In this Ice breaking and self-introduction session the students participated enthusiastically by introducing themselves, their hobbies and interests with one another. This session was conducted by Mrs.Anitha Nancy Suvares and Mrs. Stacy Mavin Pinto, Assistant Lecturers, Father Muller School of Nursing.The next session started at 10.30 am on the topic 'Professional etiquette'. Mrs. Sandra Saldanha, Associate Professor, Child Health Nursing Department, FMCON was the resource person. Sr. Nancy Priya Mathais, CNO, FMMCH dealt with the session 'Human values'. She explained human values like honesty, integrity, kindness, empathy which are very much important in student nurse's life to render care to suffering humanity.

Day 2: 28-08-2024 Wednesday
The session began at 8.30 am with a prayer songs practice . Followed by a session on the topic of 'Student - Teacher relationship'. Mr. Ashwin Bromeo. J, Associate Professor in Medical -Surgical Nursing department was the resource person. Mrs. Jyothi Crystal Pinto, HR Manager conducted session on the topic 'Conduct'. A session on the topic 'Readiness in caring the patient' was dealt by Dr.Reena Frank, Associate Professor . At 1.30 pm session was conducted on the topic 'Stress management' by Dr. Agnes E. J ,Vice Principal Father Muller College of Nursing. Followed this session, some group activities were conducted by Mrs. Deepthi Gladsy Dsouza, Lecturer & Mrs.Vinita, Assistant Lecturer, NF department. 

Day 3: 29-08-2024 Thursday
At 8.30am students had a singing practice of Institutional anthem and college anthem. A session was conducted on the topic 'Professional ethics' . Dr. Devina E.Rodrigues, Professor, community health nursing department was the resource person. Ms. Juby Joseph , Assistant professor, medical surgical nursing department dealt with a session On the topic 'Time Management'. Dr. Shashikumar, Professor, medical surgical Nursing department discussed on the topic 'Selection of friends and healthy relationship'. Prof. Pathima Violet Fernandes, HOD nursing Foundation department was the resource person for a session on the Topic 'Study habits and techniques to improve memory'.

Day 4: 30-08-2024 Friday
A Session was conducted on the topic 'Influence of social media on mental health' . Mrs. Rikhitha Pais , Lecturer for MSc in clinical psychology at father of allied health sciences was the resource person.Following the session students were given campus and college orientation by Mrs. Stacy Mavin Pinto, Assistant Lecturer Father Muller School of Nursing. Bank orientation given by Mr. Linto Dominic, Bank Manager, FMCI branch, Canara Bank.

Day 5: 30-08-2024 Saturday
A Session was conducted on the topic 'Spiritual life' by Rev. Fr.George D Souza, Chaplain, FMCI. Also, Students were given class orientation, classroom etiquettes, students & class representative responsibilities .The course orientation programme came to end at 12.30pm.
