4th INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATED AT FMCI

Father Muller Charitable Institutions, ie, The Father Muller Medical College,    Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College,  Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences, Father Muller  College of Nursing, Father Muller School of Nursing and Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing  came together to perform The International Yoga Day on 21st June 2018. The program began at 10 am with a Prayer song, about 600 students participated in the program.  Hon’ble Minister for urban development and housing Shri U T Khader inaugurated the  International Yoga Day celebration.

Director of FMCI  Rev. Fr Richard Coelho, Administrators -  Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Fr Roshan Crasta, Fr Ajith Menezes, Fr Vincent Saldanha,  the Dean of Father Muller Medical College Dr Jayaprakash Alva,  Principal of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College Dr Shivaprasad K, Principal of College of Speech and Hearing Mr Akhilesh P M, Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing Sr Jacintha D’Souza, Principal, School of Nursing Mrs Jasmine Saritha Vas, were the dignitaries on the dais.

Dr Jayaprakash Alva welcomed the gathering. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister Shri U T Khader said. “Yoga is a natural gift to our country.  There is no medicine for stress and tension. Practicing yoga is the best medicine to relieve oneself from stress.   Students and staff should not only perform yoga, but should educate people about the benefits of the same, which is your responsibility and duty. Yoga teaches you to breathe well and keep yourself fit. I wish everyone a happy Yoga Day”. 

The Presedential address was given by the Director FMCI Rev. Fr Richard Coelho who said, "Yoga helps keep diseases at bay. Practicing yoga will keep our body and mind fit. It keeps our sense and desires in control. It is good to see all Father Muller institutions coming together under one roof to perform yoga." 

Honourable minister U T Khader was Felicitated on the occasion. Sr Jacintha D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks  and Dr Deepa Rebello, Associate Professor, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College compered the programme.

After the Inaugural there was a 45min Yoga session taken by  Dr Sunitha D’Souza, yoga instructor, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College.
