In
honor of World Mental Health Day on October 10th, 2024, Father Muller
Charitable Institute is proud to announce the inauguration of a "Day Care
Centre" within its Department of Psychiatry. This initiative aims to address
the rehabilitation needs of individuals suffering from severe and chronic
mental illnesses, offering a vital resource for those in need of ongoing
support and care.
Operating
from 9 AM to 4 PM on weekdays from Monday to Saturday, the Day Care Centre will
offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary care, facilitated by a dedicated team of
mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists,
psychiatric social workers, and mental health nurses.
The
Centre is designed to support individuals who face challenges in daily living,
social interactions, and occupational functioning as a result of their mental
health conditions.
Services will focus on
holistic rehabilitation, providing the following key interventions: • Illness Self-Management Skills
Training: Helping patients understand and manage their symptoms more
effectively. • Day Structuring: Creating a
productive daily routine to promote mental stability. • Social Skills Training: Improving
communication and interpersonal abilities. • Cognitive Remediation: Enhancing
cognitive functions like memory and problem-solving.
This
initiative not only reflects the institute's unwavering commitment to mental
health care but also serves as a beacon of hope for individuals and families
grappling with the long-term effects of mental illness.
