Faculty Development Programme in Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College
Faculty
Development Program on the theme of “Role of Mentor†was held for the Faculty
of Fr. Muller Homoeopathic Medical College on 21/11/2019 and 27/11/2019 from
9.30 am- 12.30 pm. The program was conducted in 2 sessions to make it possible
the entire faculty to attend the program without neglecting their clinical and
teaching responsibilities.
The
resource person for both days was Dr. Rameela Shekar, a veteran Child,
Adolesent and Youth Mental Health Professional from Manashanthi Counseling,
Training and Research Centre, Mangalore, has earlier served 34 yrs as
Professor, HOD and Dean of Roshni Nilaya College of Social Work, Mangalore. She
has earlier conducted more than a 1000 programs for students, parents,
teachers, members of Government Organizations and Corporate Organizations on
the subject of Child Mental Health, Family Relationships, Healthy Personality,
Stress Management and Prevention of Sexual Harassment.
Dr.
Deepa Rebello and Dr. Sherlyn Paul were MCs for the Day 1 and Day 2 sessions
respectively. The session started with a prayer song by IV BHMS students. The
session was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the Fr. Roshan Crasta,
Administrator, FMHMC&H; Dr. Rameela Shekar, Resource Person; Dr.
Shivaprasad K., Principal, FMHMC, Dr. Prabhukiran, Vice-Principal, FMHMC and
Dr. Rita Chakraborthy, Chairperson, Faculty Development Committee, FMHMC.
Dr.
Rita Chakraborthy, Chair person, Faculty Development welcomed the dignitaries
and the faculty. She went on to introduce the resource person, Dr. Rameela
Shekar, outlining her many achievements in the field of Mental Health.
Fr.
Roshan Crasta, Administrator, FMHMC&H, in his inaugural address, emphasized
his belief in the role of Mentor. He outlined his plan of implementing the
Mentor-Mentee program more systematically in the college by making it part of
the curriculum. The last day of the month will be kept free for Mentor-Mentee
meetings.
Dr.
Shivaprasad K., Principal, FMHMC, addressed the gathering on the Day 1 session
and outlined the purpose and planned objective of the session.
The
vote of thanks was proposed by the MCs. The Inaugural Function ended with the
Institutional Anthem.
