The Inauguration of the new intern's batch
2020 was held on 1st
July 2020 on ZOOM online. Total 84 Interns attended the inauguration
programme which is followed by the orientation training programme.

As there was no information from the AYUSH,
CCH and RGUHS of relaxation in provisions of internship programme, interns were
called batch wise and they were quarantined compulsorily for 15 days in the
hostel.
After their quarantine the offline orientation
training programme was held once again for all the interns at the college along
with few training programmes by the external resource persons on online ZOOM
APP.

The session began with a introduction note on the repertorization
techniques. He discussed how to change the symptoms into rubrics and to derive it
in selecting the final remedy for the prescription. He also demonstrated the
software's.

The session mainly dealt with the importance of repertorization in
working out the case and doing the necessary analysis in order to understand

The session was extensively informative as the investigation that is very
commonly used to obtain the primary details in majority of the cases that come
in OPD's. He highlighted the basic ideas about when and where these can be prescribed
for investigations. Many examples of radiological reports were demonstrated.

He spoke about the possibilities that could be pursued after the BHMS

scenario, misleading cases and changing symptomatology of the diseases
discussed with the help of cases.
Later all the students were attended by Mrs.
Clara, the Lab Assistant and she demonstrated the devices present in the lab
and explained how they are used for various tests. They also explained about
the colour coding of the waste disposal.

TOPIC: SURGICAL MANAGEMENT - Suturing, Catheterization, Naso Gastric Tube, Insertion,
Burns Managemnt , Aspiration, Feeding, First Aid, Fracture Bandaging,
Wound Management And Dressing
Batches were categorised as A and B as morning
(10:00 am - 12:00 pm) and afternoon (2:00- 4:00 pm) session respectively.
The first half session was taken by Dr. Hafis
Shereif. He dealt with the topics including Catheterization with demonstration
of both male and female patients Videos, Naso gastric intubation, Aspiration,
Feeding, First aid in cases of emergency situations like a Trauma, Choking,
Shock, Epitasis, Bleeding, Wound management etc. He also discussed the
management of burns, Eye injuries, Bites / Stings, Fractures.
Dr. K John Paul, demonstrated the bandaging
methods including circular, spiral and reverse spirals twice with a note on
fixation turns; making sure that every student does not miss the important part
which is used also in Dressing.
One of the important area focuses was suturing
and including the size of the needle, type, material of the suturing thread,
was highlighted. The sizes of the needles were explained along with the type of
tissue involved. The basic procedure of suturing was then dealt with the major
necessary precautions. The simple interrupted Suturing was demonstrated and
clarified their doubts.

TOPIC: LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The session was conducted from 2:30 pm-4:00pm
in Lecture Hall II. She explained the rules to be observed in order to give a
certificate and explained about the importance of ethical issues with regard to
giving false evidence in medical practise.
She also stressed on the situations where the
Homoeopathic physician should not give certificates. The death certificate,
medical certificate and fitness certificate to rejoin his/her duty was also
discussed in detail.

The session was conducted as two workshops by
Dr.Rajachandra G and Dr.Sooraj
The first half of the session conducted in the
Lecture Hall-2. It mainly dealt with the basics of ECG from 2:00-3:00pm and
covered the topics including the limb leads and the components of the ECG and
the necessary correlations that could be indicated in various clinical
conditions. The session was moderated by Dr Rajachandra G.
The second half was taken by Dr Sooraj in the
auditorium from 3:00pm-4:30pm. He demonstrated the various methods of
injections. Another area he focused was nebulisation, oxygen supply devices and
the ventilator support, methods of using the same in different conditions. The management
of medical emergencies such as electrolyte imbalances, trauma and epilepsy was
also explained. The IV cannulisation procedure was demonstrated. He also
explained how to use a test strip for assessing the glucose levels used in the
glucometer along with the leads which are used for the ECG. Finally session
ended with the method of administering CPR.

THERAPEUTIC PROBLEM RESOLUTION
The session was held in Lecture Hall II from
2:30 pm to 4:00pm. He explained about the difference between problem definition
(PD), problem resolution (PR), therapeutic problem definition (TPD) and
therapeutic problem resolution (TPR). The importance of understanding the
concept of PD /PR was clearly correlated in order to arrive at the TPD and TPR.
He also explained about the precautions depending on the case demands. The
session was ended with clarifying their doubts.

Father highlighted the COVID -19 pandemic situations and said that this year the clinical exposure would be comparatively less with all the previous years. Father also assured that the management will try to post the interns at OPD Kankanady, OPD Deralkatte, Thumbay causality & OPD and other centres with all the precautions and guidelines.

Principal instructed the general precautions to be
taken for the corona situation and the necessity maintenance of the same for
the continuous strategy in coping with the current scenario. He also
highlighted the places where combined therapy including homoeopathy and allopathy
will be established and informed to all the interns to be aware about the news
and affairs pertaining to the situation.

Vice
Principal shared new ideas to utilise
the time effectively in the current situation where the cases are less and make
use of the time by reading and preparing for the articles to publish in the
international journals.

the Orientation programmes of the interns. She also briefed the guidelines
regarding the further postings, leaves, submission of the course completion
certificate, conducting clinical meetings and Journal club etc.
