ONLINE AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON PHARMACOVIGILANCE IN HOMOEOPATHY
An Online Awareness Programme on
Pharmacovigilance in Homoeopathy was hosted by the Peripheral
Pharmacovigilance Centre (PPvC) of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College (FMHMC)
on 19th February 2021 from 2.00 to
4.30 PM on Zoom platform and live-streamed on Youtube. FMHMC is one among
the 42 institutions of AYUSH, designated as Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre
(PPvC) in Homoeopathy under the Central Sector Scheme introduced by the Ministry
of AYUSH, New Delhi.
The resource persons were Dr K. C.
Muraleedharan, Officer Incharge, Research Officer (H), S4, Professor and
Head, Department of Practice of Medicine, National Homoeopathy Research
Institute in Mental Health, Kottayam and Dr A. B. Ramjyothis,
Professor and Head, Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy, Athurasramam NSS
Homoeo Medical College, Kurichi, Kottayam.
The session began at 2.00 PM with a brief
inauguration. MC, Dr Prennie Vidiera, Assistant Professor, Department of
Pharmacy explained the objectives of the session. Dr E. S. J Prabhu
Kiran, Principal, FMHMC welcomed the gathering. It was followed by the
message by Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Administrator, FMHMC&H
stressed the importance of drug safety in the Homoeopathic system. The
inaugural session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Vivek
Sakthidharan, Co-ordinator, PPvC, FMHMC.
The first session was taken by Dr K. C.
Muraleedharan, on the topic 'Introduction to Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)
&Pharmacovigilance with Homoeopathic perspective and experiences'.
The second session was presented by Dr A.
B. Ramjyothis, on the topic 'Causality assessment & ADR of Homoeopathic
drugs and an insight into Drugs & Magic Remedies Act'.
The sessions were moderated by Dr Vivek
Sakthidharan who in the conclusion urged the participants to start monitoring
the signals and report it to the nearest PPvC and also elaborated to the
participants on the different ways of reporting.
This was followed by conclusion remarks by
Dr E.S.J PrabhuKiran.
Around 650 members participated in the
webinar which included teaching faculty, medical officers, interns and
postgraduate students from various medical colleges in India, Private and Govt
Medical practitioners all over India and abroad, Programme co-ordinators and
programme assistants from various Pharmacovigilance Centres, Research officers
from different institutions and representatives from various pharmaceutical
companies. The delegates were not only from Homoeopathy but from every AYUSH
stream, which includes Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha.
