Visit To Sewage Treatment Plant and Water Treatment Centre
A field visit was
held for IV BHMS students at Water Purification Plant situated at Thumbay and Sewage
Treatment Plant at Kavoor, Mangalore on 13.04.2022. The batch of 77 students
were divided into two groups for the better learning purpose. Mr Rajesh,
Quality Control Engineer of Water Purification Plant, Thumbay explained and
interacted with the students about water treatment. Students visited the
pumping station, flocculation chamber, chemical treatment room, chlorination
unit, rapid sand and filter beds.
Mr Stephan,
Service Engineer, Sewage Treatment Plant, Kavoor explained about Sewage
treatment and interacted with the students. Students were
very enthusiastic to learn about the various methods in which the sewage is
being treated. They observed the Screening
Unit, Grit Chamber, Primary Sedimentation Tank, Secondary Treatment Plant,
Sludge Digestion Tank and Tertiary Treatment Plant.
