Republic Day 2023
The 74th
Republic Day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical
College campus on 26.01.2023 at 8.30am. Republic Day marks
an important event in India's history. It commemorates the enactment of the
constitution of India which came into effect on January 26, 1950 and made the
Nation into a Republic. The theme of Republic Day 2023 is "Jan Bhagidari (participation of the
common people)".
The
programme commenced at 8.30am by invoking the blessings of the almighty through
a prayer song lead by Ms Agnes Joseph and team.
Mr Sarang
Paul, President of the Students' Council, welcomed the
Administrator Rev Fr Roshan Crasta, Chief Guest Dr Blany J Lobo, Vice
Principal Dr Vilma D'Souza, Chaplain Fr John Vas and the august
gathering. He introduced the chief guest Dr Blany J. Lobo.
Chief
guest Dr Blany J. Lobo, Professor and HOD, Department of Homoeopathic
Pharmacy unfurled the National flag and, in his message, emphasised that
"The Constitution of India is the supreme law of the country and is the
ultimate document underlining all the fundamental policies, rules, regulations
and duties of the Government, and of each and every Indian citizen. He urged
the students to perform their duties and carry out responsibilities to the best
of their abilities, knowing that parents have sacrificed to send them to one of
the premier medical institutes of the country, where they are indeed lucky and
blessed to receive the finest teaching, training and discipline. He concluded
his speech reminding the sacrifices of martyrs who laid down their lives for
country by singing a melodious Hindi patriotic song "He mere Watan Ke Logo".
Administrator Rev Fr Roshan Crasta garlanded the
portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar, the Chief architect of the Constitution of India, and a Founding Father of the Republic of India. Rev Fr
Roshan Crasta conveyed the greetings of republic day to the gathering, highlighted
that "Republics are created by the public spirits and the intelligence of the
citizens. Through the values and virtues, we can claim to live in Republic India
which is the vision of Dr B R Ambedkar. Quoted the message delivered by the President
of India "Essence of India is diversity, we have been very successful democracies
in the globe, Mahatma Gandhi is the true prophet in India, who upheld the
virtues and values and respected each individual. He emphasised that it is our
duty to remind ourselves of our responsibilities towards our society and nation,
to recall that we have to uphold the oneness and integrity of our nation. We
are reminded to abide by the articles, rules and guidelines in the constitution
irrespective of language, religion, caste and respect each other as brethren.
Being health care professionals, we have to realise that our contribution
matters in the growth and development of our country".
Ms Chrisel Jenicia D'Sa served as commander for the event.
Ms Adra Ganesh compered the programme.
Ms A K Devika, General Secretary, Students' Council proposed
the vote of thanks.
