Clinical Skill Lab Training for Interns

As a part of the Internship program for the 2023-24 batch of Interns, a Skill Lab Training Sessions were held at the Competence Learning Centre, Deralakatte on 15^th and 16^th of September 2023. A team from Yenepoya Medical College were the resource persons for the session. The sessions were held in 5 batches on both the days.

On first day the sessions commenced with a brief introduction of the resource persons by Dr Reshel Noronha, Deputy Interns Co-ordinator. Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Administrator FMHMC & H was present for the introduction session. Thereafter the interns attended their specified stations for the training sessions.

The sessions were held on Suturing by Dr Reewen George D'silva, RMO; IV procedures by Mrs Nileema D'souza, RNRM; Newborn Care by Mrs Noothan Lasrado, M.Sc, RNRM and wound dressing by Mr Wilson Kumar, RNRM. Initial assessment training was demonstrated by Dr Nandini, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, FMHMC.

On second day, Dr Reewen D'silva demonstrated Urinary Catheterisation procedures on the mannequins.  The other stations were on Bandaging, Head to toe examination and Neurological assessment. Bandaging session was demonstrated by Dr John Paul, HOD Department of Surgery, FMHMC. Head to toe examination and Neurological assessment were taken by Dr Hanumanth and Dr Amrutha - Postgraduates, Department of Medicine, FMHMC and by Dr Amala - Postgraduate, Department of Paediatrics. 

80 Interns benefited from the training sessions.
