Republic Day 2024
The 75th Republic
Day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical
College campus on 26.01.2024. Freedom
of thought, strength in our conviction, and pride in our heritage makes us
proud that we live in a country that has a rich history and culture.
Republic Day marks an important event in India's
history. It commemorates the enactment of the constitution of India which came
into effect on January 26, 1950 and made the Nation into a Republic. This
year marks the 75th republic day, based on the theme "India -Mother of
Democracy" and "Viksit Bharat" reflecting India's role as a democratic nation
and its progress.
The
programme commenced at 8.30 am by invoking the blessings of the almighty
through a prayer song lead by Dr Aby P Johnson and team.
Mr Deron Maben, President of Students' Council, welcomed the Administrator Rev Fr Roshan Crasta, Asst
Administrator Rev Fr Ashwin Crasta, Chief Guest Dr Jenita R
Fernandes, Principal Dr ESJ Prabhu Kiran ,Vice Principal Dr
Vilma D'Souza, Staff Advisor Student council Dr Deepa Pais ,
Chaplain Fr John Vas and the august gathering. He introduced
the chief guest Dr Jenita R Fernandes.
Chief
guest Dr Jenita R Fernandes, Professor Department of Organon of
Medicine and Homoeopathic philosophy unfurled the National flag and, in her
message, emphasised that "The main purpose of the constitution was to know the
roles and rights of the citizens and to define the structure and the powers of
the Government and its organizations. She urged the students to reflect on the
lives of patriots and imbibe their qualities of dedication, determination and
hard work. She highlighted the importance of tolerance and maturity which
enables us to focus on our goals with an unwavering spirit overcoming all the
obstacles".
Administrator Rev
Fr Roshan Crasta garlanded the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar,
the Chief architect of the Constitution of India, and a Founding Father of the Republic
of India. Rev Fr Roshan
Crasta conveyed the greetings of republic day to the gathering, highlighted that
as members of medical community, particularly as a doctors, we bear greater
responsibility towards the nation. It is imperative that we continually evolve to uphold the unity and integrity of our republic.
We are reminded to abide by the articles, rules and guidelines in the
constitution irrespective of language, religion, caste and respect each other
as brethren. Being health care professionals, we have to realise that our
contribution matters in the growth and development of our country.
Dr Chrisel Jenicia D'Sa served as commander for the event.
Ms Perlin Tellis compered the programme.
