Date :Oct 3, 2023

The theme for International Hearing-Impaired week-2023 was to 'Check your Hearing', which aimed to raise awareness of the importance of early identification and intervention for hearing loss. Many people live with unidentified hearing loss, often failing to realize that they are missing out on certain sounds and words. Checking one's hearing is the first step towards addressing the issue. Speech, language pathologists and audiologists provide a range of services, which includes both assessment and management of communication disorders and also, play a major role in public awareness and prevention of these disorders.

In honor of this occasion a 3-day Speech and Hearing camp was organized in Father Muller College (Speech and hearing).

A total 87 patients underwent audiological evaluation and speech and language evaluation over the 3 days. Out of which 79 patients benefitted from free hearing evaluation and 8 patients from free speech and language evaluation. The total amount of hearing aids that were sold was Rs.4,99,000 out of which 7 patients availed with a 20% of discount during the camp and one more patient is yet to buy the hearing aid. Paediatric, Adult and Geriatric cases benefited from the camp. We thank patients who participated and also our department staff and students who worked hard to make the event a success.
