THE ETHNIC DAY: UTSAV 2024

The ethnic day: 'UTSAV 2024' was hosted by Father Muller Charitable Institute with the motto 'UNITY IN DIVERSITY' on 5thSeptember 2024 at the Father Muller Convention Centre. It was one of the most magnificent event held by FMCI.
FMCI celebrated the ethnic day, where various departments came together to make this event memorable. The management, students and staff showcased their ethnicity by donning colourful costumes.
The event began with a procession led by the rhythmic beats of Chenda, and voje, a traditional catholic ceremonyat 2 PM, from the Carmel hostel grounds to the Father Muller Convention Centre.
The EMCEE of the event, Dr. Tanya Lashkara Mohanraj, a postgraduate in orthopaedics, took over and summarised the events i.e. Teacher's Day, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam and Monti Fest. The two competitions were also introduced namely, the best procession and the best performance showing the ethnicity of our country.
The onstage program began with a prayer dance by the students of Father Muller Nursing Collage, followed by a short film created by the students of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical Collage, which captured the essence of the celebration.
Mr.  Akhil Montero, President of FMHMC Student Council, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, the Director of the FMCI along with various dignitariesfilled a vessel with rice from various small containers, symbolizing unity, and officially inaugurated the event
Mr. Ajay Kadri, an MBBS student wished the teachers for all their support and Dr. Leo Tauro, Professor of General Surgery responded on behalf of all the teachers.
Rev. Fr. Richard Aloysius Coelho, Director of FMCI, addressed the gathering, with his empowering words. He spoke about unity and diversity and inclusiveness that is embodied in FMCI.
The highlight of this event was the various performances showcased by the seven institutes of FMCI, showcasing the rich culture and heritage of our country through dance, skits, ramp walks.
Our student band featuring talented musicians,rocked the stage,performing various songs and captivating the audience withunique styles, across various languages and genres.
A surprise event was performed by the priests who sang Konkani songs in traditional mundus, making this event a memorable one
The best procession award was bagged by Father Muller Nursing Collage, Thumbay. First runner-up was bagged by our college, Father Muller college of speech and hearing for the best performace and the winners of the programme was Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, Derelakatte.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Pearl Joanita Fernandes, a student of MPT.
