78th Independence Day celebration

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the College premises on August 15, 2024 at 8 am. The event commenced with a melodious invocation led by Ms. Nile and team, seeking blessings from the Almighty.

Dr E. S. J. Prabhu Kiran, Principal welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, the Designate Director of FMCI and Administrator of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. 

Dr Chrisel D'Sa invited the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, to hoist the national flag. Following the flag hoisting ceremony, he addressed the gathering, emphasizing that we have the independence to think, make decisions, and govern our own country. He stressed the importance of enjoying our freedom responsibly and embracing the ethos of "Live and let Live". He urged everyone to honor and remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters, pledging to contribute towards uplifting our nation. He highlighted the dream of our freedom fighters to build a strong Nava Bharath, calling for the inculcation of values like love, tolerance, and brotherhood. Echoing the words of the great Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, "Into that heaven of freedom, My Father, let my country awake," he conveyed the true essence of freedom.

Prizes for the winners of the House-wise patriotic singing competition held on August 14, 2024 on occasion of Independence Day were distributed. Team Allen won the first prize and Team Kent secured the second prize. The competition was judged by Rev. Fr Ashwin Crasta, Assistant Administrator and Prof. Dr Blany Lobo.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Akhil Monteiro, President of the Students' Council.
