Training programme on "First Aid and Emergency Care"
The Department of Surgery in
association with Father Muller Competence Learning Centre conducted a training
programme on "First Aid and Emergency Care" for the Scouts and Guides
students of Nithyadar English Medium High School in the Father Muller Seminar Hall
on 25.03.2024.
Jeeva Raksha instructors, Dr K
John Paul, Associate Professor, Department of Surgery, Dr Manish Kumar Tiwari,
Assistant Professor, Department of Repertory and Dr Deeraj Ignacius Fernandes,
Assistant Professor, Department of Organon of Medicine conducted the training
programme.
The instructors explained and demonstrated the various first aid measures taken and the interventions done to a person who is injured or seriously ill before professional medical help arrives. They deliberated and demonstrated on dealing with major & minor bleeding, managing general and electric shock, epistaxis, drowning, binding a broken limb, treating a sprain, managing human caught in fire, performing heimlich's maneuver, administering CPR, mouth to mouth respiration, making an improvised stretcher, applying a roller and triangular bandage, communication and methods of carrying a casualty with one first aider and two first aiders.
A total of 44 scouts and guides
from the school participated in the training programme and received hands-on
experience. 30 more students of the same class witnessed the session.

organised the event as a part of adopted school.
