Pharmacovigilance Awareness Program for ASU&H Drugs at Yenepoya HMC
An awareness program on Pharmacovigilance in
ASU&H Drugs was held at the Seminar Hall of Yenepoya Homeopathic Medical
College & Hospital, Naringana on March
27,2024,
The agenda included an invocation by
Mr. Fawaz, commenced the event with a brief yet solemn invocation, invoking
blessings for the success and enlightenment of the program.
Dr Sushrutha K in his welcoming
address , expressed gratitude to all attendees for their presence and
participation. He highlighted the significance of the event in raising
awareness about pharmacovigilance in ASU&H Drugs and emphasized the
institution's commitment to promoting patient safety and responsible healthcare
practices.
The dignitaries, including key faculty
members and esteemed guests, participated in the traditional lighting of the
lamp ceremony. This symbolic gesture not only marked the inauguration of the
event but also signified the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment in the
field of Pharmacovigilance.
Dr Shubhada delivered an enlightening speech
as a Guest of honour, underscoring the importance of Pharmacovigilance in
ensuring the safety and efficacy of ASU&H Drugs. She shared valuable
insights and motivating the audience to actively engage in the discourse on
drug safety and patient care.
Dr Shivaprasad K, in his presidential
remarks, reiterated the institution's commitment to advancing Pharmacovigilance
practices. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among healthcare
professionals to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with
traditional medicine, thereby enhancing public health outcomes.
Dr Shridhar Gokale extended heartfelt
gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their invaluable
contributions to the success of the event. He acknowledged their dedication and
support in promoting Pharmacovigilance awareness and fostering a culture of
drug safety within the healthcare community.
Dr Vivek Sakthidharan led an engaging session
focused on pharmacovigilance in the AYUSH system, with particular emphasis on
casualty assessment and reporting. Through interactive discussions and case
studies, participants gained a deeper understanding of adverse drug reaction
monitoring and management in traditional medicine.
Dr Fathima Soudath delivered an informative
session highlighting the significance of the Drugs & Magic Remedies Act
1945 in regulating drug safety and Pharmacovigilance. She elucidated key
provisions of the act and its implications for healthcare professionals,
emphasizing the importance of adherence to regulatory standards in ensuring
public health.
The event had a total of 219 participants.
