Research forum training session on Research Techniques in Field Crops
The Research forum training session on "Research Techniques in Field Crops" by Dr Harish Shenoy, Scientist (Agronomy)-ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra was held on 26.09.2024 at Father Muller Seminar Hall.
The event witnessed active participation from around 70 participants, including members of the Students' Research Club, Post graduates from Research Forum and Faculty members. This session aimed to enhance the participants' understanding of various research techniques applied in the study of field crops, with a special focus on rice.
The event began with a prayer song by the students. This was followed with a welcome address and introduction of the resource person by the master of ceremony. Dr Anita Lobo, Co-ordinator of the Research Forum. Dr Vilma Meera Dsouza, Vice Principal welcomed the speaker with a floral bouquet. Dr E S J Prabhukiran, Principal then felicitated Dr Harish Shenoy with a token of appreciation. He also emphasized the role of research in improving agricultural outcomes and encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the training session.
Dr Harish Shenoy explained in
depth, regarding key methods and tools used in agricultural research, with a
focus on field crops, specifically rice. He highlighted the importance of
accurate measurements and data collection in research, providing practical
examples that could be applied to ongoing and future research projects
undertaken by the participants. One of the most engaging aspects of Dr Shenoy's
session was a live demonstration where he skillfully taught the participants
how to measure the crops using various scientific methods.
An interactive session
followed the lecture, during which the participants raised insightful questions
about the research methodologies discussed. Dr Shenoy addressed each query with
clarity, ensuring the students left with a comprehensive understanding of the
techniques covered.
Dr Shreyank Kotian, Secretary
& all the executive committee members of the Research Forum, meticulously
executed their role in the training session.
