Pharmacy Study tour 2024 to Alvas Botanical garden and Pilikula Herbarium

Pharmacy study tour to Shobhavana Herbal Garden at ALVAS Moodbidri on 21-03-2024 and Botanical Garden at
Pilikula Nisargadhama on 22-03-2024 was
organized for I BHMS 2022-23 batch and MD(Hom) Hom Pharmacy post graduate scholars
as a part of their curriculum.
The
botanist at Shobhavana Herbal Garden explained the group about various
plant species, their identifications and their medicinal properties. He guided the
students throughout the visit. The Herbal Garden is spread over 5 acre
of land and housing 1,200 varieties of plants and trees. The garden was
built in the memory of Late Shoba Alva.
The
botanical garden at Pilikula Nisargadhama is spread over 60 acres of
land housing 264 varieties of plants. The botanist explained the procedure
about preparing the herbarium, their collection and storage. He also gave
information about various indigenous medicinal plants and their uses.

students were divided into 2 batches of 34 students and visited the 2 places on
alternate days with staff and PG scholars.
