The Anatomy Department of FMCI started as a part of the medical college in 1999 with the vision “TO STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE IN ANATOMY”. The Mission statement of the department is to pursue a continuing level of excellence in teaching Anatomical disciplines to professional and undergraduate students in health-related fields.
Dr Jacob Abraham was the Head of the Department from 13.05.1999 to 24.08.2000. The subsequent Heads of the Department are Dr B. Venugopala Rao (25.08.2000 - 18.02.2005), Dr B. A. Devaiah (19.02.2005 - 04.04.2005) and Dr B. Venugopala Rao (05.04.2005 - 14.07.2006). Dr Prakash Shetty is the Head of the department from 15.07.2006 till date, all contributing to the development of the department.
The department was recognized for Post Graduate courses from 2014 and is also recognized for Ph.D work.
Dr. Prakash Shetty, Professor and HOD is a recognized Ph.D guide under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and also a member of the Ph.D Registration Committee of RGUHS.
