FAB FESS-2018 REPORT
Workshops are vital to continued medical education to be on par with dynamics of medicine. Fabfess 2018 was an initiative taken by Department of ENT, Father Muller Medical College(FMMC) Mangalore held on 09.02.2018 and 10.02.2018 at Decennial Memorial Hall at FMMC campus . As addressed by Director of the institution this live surgical workshop is the 3rd live surgical workshop that has been conducted by the Department of ENT in a short span of 3 years. Highlights of the event were famous International and national faculties which were hosted by the institution. Doctors from all over the country came to attend this conference. A total of 223 delegates which not only included budding ENT surgeons but also well established surgeons too. Basic to advanced live endoscopic sinus surgeries were demonstrated by the renowned faculties. Dr. Gerald Wolf from prestigious university of Graz, Austria enlightened all the delegates that attended the conference in his didactic lecture . Also Dr.Alkis Psaltis from Australia , Prof. Andrey Lopatin from Russia and our own national faculties Dr.Ravi Ramalingam who is presently President of AOI India, from Chennai along with Dr. George Varghese from Kerala , all of them impressed the delegates with their surgical skills shared their own practical experiences and deeper insight which was indeed a feast to the eyes. Eleven live surgeries were performed in a span of Two days. Also the international faculties appreciated the efforts put into organizing this event and the hospitality shown to them . National faculties were very supportive as they always have been . All sessions were moderated by various eminent surgeons of India and aimed at being interactive and very informative. This live surgical workshop also benefitted the poor and needy patients who underwent the procedure, as it was completely free of cost. This was possible only with the help and support of the institution. Academic excellence is the motivation for conducting such events which continue to be our pursuit in future endeavours.
