Dear principal, faculty, supportive Staff and Students

Greetings of peace to all of you and a hearty welcome to Father Muller College of Nursing, a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

Our college was started in the year 1987 with 4 years degree course B.sc. Nursing. This became the first private sector nursing college in the state of Karnataka. The Post Certificate nursing degree started in the following year 1988 and M.Sc. program was added five years later in 1992. We draw immense satisfaction from the success of our students who are well placed today in India and across the globe. We are truly proud of our students and dedicated faculty. Father Mullers is a byword for “nursing”. when someone says nursing/nurse it means nurses from Father Mullers. Our alumni are our ambassadors who spread the fame of Father Muller College of Nursing. The college with the state of the art facilities and infrastructure dedicated faculty and library facilities is our strength.

As we are badly hit by the covid-19 corona virus pandemic, fear and anxiety has crept in even with the health care workers. We appreciate the dedicated service of nurses risking themselves but working day in and day out to promote wellness to their patients. Due to this threat of covid-19 many must have decided not to go to health care sector, but in spite of that you have joined our college. We appreciate your boldness. Nursing is a divine call from above. God is the supreme healer. You are only an instrument and medium to pass on god’s healing power to your patients for their wellness. If it’s a call then you must respond to his call and then it becomes your vocation. God brings peace, joy, solace and comfort to the suffering humans through his chosen ones. You are chosen by god to continue his ministry of healing. Pope Francis says: “take care of the sick and suffering like a ‘good samaritan’. He applauds Mother Theresa of Kolkatta who always began her day with the eucharist and then go to the streets with a rosary in her hand to find out and serve the lord in the sick especially those who are unloved, unwanted and uncared for….

Remember always Florence Nightingale – the lady with the lamp as your role model. As a nurse you have to enkindle hope in those people who have given up their hope. You need to bring joy to the heart of the suffering. You are called upon to restore confidence in your patients. For this, one is required to develop skills of the mind and qualities of the heart.

In our institution, the chapel is the power house. You have ample time with you and therefore go to this prayer house and fortify yourself spiritually. As a nurse/student nurse you will go to the wards and you will learn a lot at the bed side. Strengthen yourself professionally specially your attitude, skills, knowledge, experience and prepare yourself to be a confident and competent nurse.

Remember you are the largest work force in the health care sector. The role of the nurses is very important as you are in the front lines to give care to the patients. I am sure your journey in Father Mullers will be a smooth one. Your hard work and sacrifice will certainly make you a qualified health care professional. As a nurse, you will be called ‘angels’ and truly to the sick and suffering people you will bring solace and will be an angel.

once again welcome to father mullers. god bless.
