FATHER MULLER COLLEGE OF NURSING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE ALUMNAE ASSOCIATION

Name & Address:

An Association of the Alumnae of Father Muller College of Nursing has been formed and it is called “Alumni Association, Father Muller College of Nursing “. The office of the association is located at the premises of Father Muller College of Nursing, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Kankanady Post Mangalore – 575 002

The Vision:

Every association binds its members together as a coherent group towards a common goal. The Alumni association of Father Muller College of Nursing envisages to keep alive the flame of “Heal and Comfort” in all its members as per the ideals of Father Muller the founder of the Institution. The spirit and the ideals of love and service imbibed from the Alma Mater can be a motivating force to be permeated in all activities of the students even after they leave the institution. The association thus serves as a connecting link fostering friendship and fellowship among all its alumnae and with the Alma Mater and also providing opportunities for continued self development through scientific, professional, social and cultural programs organized periodically.

Aims and Objectives:
  • To cultivate and foster friendship and fellowship among the present and past students and teachers of Father Muller College of Nursing.
  • To encourage the students to develop affection and gratitude towards Alma Mater and contribute to its progress.
  • To organize scientific, professional, social and cultural programs and thus to promote continued professional and self development.
  • To encourage students and teachers present and to contribute articles to the college magazines.
  • To develop funding for the benefit of the association by donations, contributions, aids, membership fees and subscriptions.
Membership:
  • Membership Fees: All members are required to pay membership fee as determined by the Executive Committee time to time.
  • At present the membership fee is collected as Rs 500/ at the beginning of admission to the nursing program.
  • No additional fee will be collected from the alumni if they come for further studies at FMCON.
  • Donor Member: The Executive Committee shall be empowered to encourage alumni to become donor member of the Association on payment of Rs.10, 000/- as per today’s norms (1995).This amount is subject to revision by the Executive Committee.
  • The names of such donor members shall be published in the bulletin of the association.
  • The names of such donor member shall be entered in a roll of honor displayed at the office.
  • Donor members shall receive the regular publication/bulletin of the association at no cost.
  • These members shall also be permanent invitees to all functions of the association.
  • Ex-Officio Members: The Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, the Principal and Vice Principal of College of Nursing are the ex- officio members of the association. The Executive Committee may invite the past Directors, Principals/Vice Principals to be honorary members of the association.
    The Ex-Officio & honorary member of the association shall assist and advise Executive Committee of the association, and shall attend all functions of the association.
    All proposed amendments of the constitution shall be communicated to the ex-officio members before actualization.
  • Dismissal from the Association: Any member, who acts inappropriate, may be expelled after raising the issue in the executive committee, thereafter placing the decision taken by the Executive Committee (EC) in the general body meeting. The disciplinary procedure is as follows,
  • The subject is given an opportunity to place her/his explanation
  • Informally counseled about her/his behavior by the representatives of EC.
  • Confirmatory letter is given to the member to confirm that the oral warning has been given
  • The subject is monitored for the next 3 months. If behavior is not improved first warning letter is issued, and member is given an opportunity to respond, if required improvement is not seen a second warning letter will be issued and if that fails within 3 months a final written warning is given and executive members jointly take a decision on retaining or terminating the membership of the subject.
  • Thereafter the decision taken up by the EC will be placed before the general body, on receiving 2/3rd consensus the subject will be terminated from the membership and a written letter is issued within 14 days.
The Executive committee
  • The association shall have an Executive Committee consisting of the following members:
    • President
    • Vice President
    • General Secretary
    • Joint Secretary
    • Treasurer
    • Committee Conveners:
      • Scientific delegation
      • Program
      • Correspondence
      • Editor bulletin
    • Immediate past president of the association shall be an ex-officio member(EC) of the Executive Committee
    • The EC shall hold office from the date of election till a new EC is formed
    • The members of the E C shall be elected in the general body meeting proposed by the previous E C
Duties and Responsibilities of the E. C. Members:
  • President:
    • Presides over all meetings of the Alumni Association
    • To nominate a substitute to officiate in the absence of President and the Vice President
    • To conduct elective sessions/proposals for the next E C
  • Vice President:
    • To assist the President in the performance of her duties
    • To substitute for the President in the absence
    • To carry out such duties and responsibilities as are allotted to her by the President
  • General Secretary:
    • Responsible for calling of meetings of the EC and the General Body in consultation with the President and Vice President.
    • To record the minutes of all meeting of the E C and General Body.
    • To place before the Executive Committee, suggestions and proposals received from the members of the Executive Committee and General Body for its consideration and necessary action.
    • To ensure that the decisions of the Executive Committee and General Body are duly carried out.
    • To place before the General Body, the minutes of the previous General Body meeting.
    • Shall be responsible for day to day activities of the association.
  • Joint Secretary:
    • To substitute for the General Secretary in her absence.
    • To assist the General Secretary in the performance of her duties
    • To carry out such duties and responsible as are allotted to her by the President/Vice President.
  • Treasurer:
    • To be responsible for the collection of membership fees and all other income of the Association.
    • Responsible for maintaining detailed accounts of the financial transactions of the association and to submit the same for scrutiny by the EC.
    • To have the annual statements of accounts duly prepared and audited and present the same to the General Body.
  • Scientific delegation:
    • Assists the Editor in the collection, screening and compilation of the FMCON magazine/Souvenir.
    • Conducting the seminars, symposium or other continuing education programs.
    • Conducts social and cultural programs.
  • Correspondence:
    • Responsible for updating and maintain the record of members.
    • Distribution of notices/information concerning the association.
    • Regular correspondence with the members
  • Editor Bulletin:
    • Magazine/Bulletin Chairman will be responsible for screening, compiling, editing and publishing the bulletin/brochure/souvenir etc.
    • Liaison with General Secretary and communication chairman for dissemination of relevant information to members.
    • The members of the Executive Committee shall assist and co-ordinate with each other in the performance of their duties for the common good of the association. The Conveners of all committees shall have the option of forming sub committees to facilitate the achievement of objectives.
  • Finance:
    • The official year of the association shall be the financial year from 1st April to 31st March.
    • The funds of the association shall be deposited in a bank they shall be jointly operated by the Treasurer and President/General Secretary.
    • The General Secretary shall not incur expenditure exceeding Rs. 500/- at any one time without the previous sanction of the Executive Committee.
    • The membership fees collected during the year will be remitted to the bank account of Alumni Association.
    • The EC shall meet the expenses of conducting activities from the bank account of the Alumni Association, which should be discussed and approved in the Executive Committee meeting.
  • The activities of the Association:

      The Association shall be responsible to conduct the following activities,

      • Publication of Alumni Bulletin
      • Maintaining and updating directory of members
      • Organizing alumnae get-together with the following
        • General Body meeting
        • Symposium/Seminar /Workshop
        • Cultural programs/Games
